About

Kathi Wright

Kathi Wright is the Executive Director of the Don’t Drive Drowsy Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on educating teens on the dangers of driving sleep impaired and the need for a healthy amount of sleep.

The tragic death of her 17-year-old nephew to a sleeping driver brought with it the realization that deaths due to drowsy driving occur far too frequently and, with proper education, are entirely preventable. The Don’t Drive Drowsy Foundation speaks at high schools and driving schools across Tennessee to spread this much-needed message. There is no greater risk to the driver and other drivers on the road than for the driver to be asleep.

Ms. Wright is a proud graduate of the University of Memphis and earned her Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She received her 45 hours plus endorsement from Trebecca Nazarene University.  Ms. Wright taught Kindergarten thru Third Grade and feels she learned as much from her students as they did from her. Ms. Wright enjoys Memphis Tiger sports, lunch with friends, and spending time with her grandchildren. Ms. Wright is a Memphis Area Master Gardener and honorary lifetime member of the Tennessee PTA.

Ms. Wright received the Making a Difference award from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office in 2019 for her work towards ending the deadly practice of driving while sleep impaired.
